In 2006, Angel Rice began selling screen-printed t-shirts out of the trunk of her car to help pay for her child's adoption from China. Three adoptions and almost 20 years later, Angel has created a 10,000 square foot destination, Under the Carolina Moon, in Easley, South Carolina. She is a living example of an entrepreneurial dream come true, and she has walked every step of the way with her signature grit, faith, determination and kindness! Today, Under the Carolina Moon not only offers their famous t-shirts with southern sayings and hand-drawn illustrations, but also an impressive array of clothing, jewelry and darling giftables. Angel has created a true destination in her area where anyone that walks in feels like family!
When was your store founded? What inspired you to establish your store?
We have 6 children, 3 of whom we adopted from China. When we started the adoption process, I decided to take advantage of my husband’s screen printing business by creating a shirt to raise money so we could adopt. It all started with one design and one dream. I sold the shirts out of the trunk of my car to banks, schools, etc. This slowly evolved into a small store, then a shirt brand, which we now wholesale to retailers across the U.S. Through our shirt brand, Southernology®, we decided to give back a portion of sales to help supply meals to children in need. The store grew, the brand grew, and God has used us in more ways than we could have ever dreamed of. We are simply a vessel and feel very blessed.
What is your favorite thing about Easley, SC?
We love the small-town feel of Easley, our loyal customer base, and the ability to develop close relationships with the other local stores around us. Our customers drive in from all over and we’re so happy that they get to glimpse some of the greatness of Easley while they’re here.
Which Oventure product is the most popular with your clientele?
Confetti Big O Key Rings are the most popular Oventure product with our clientele. Since we are in Clemson Tiger territory, we also sell a lot of orange and purple Big O Key Rings in both silicone and leather. ID Cases sell well, too, and we have recently started to see an increase in Silicone Pouch purchases.
How has Under the Carolina Moon continued to be a tOp Oventure retailer year after year?
Big O Key Rings are one of the easiest products to sell in my store. The product never wears out, and customers continue coming back to buy gifts for others, and new colors and add ons for themselves.

Other than the product, I feel like the Oventure team truly cares about making my business as successful as possible. I can call anytime and talk directly to someone on the team to help with anything I may need. They always listen to my specific needs for my store and customer. I love that they are consistently coming out with new styles, they stay in stock, and they ship fast!
What words of wisdom do you live by?
I always say that you can’t out-give God. He is always going to bless our work and our commitment to helping others. We should always treat others how we want to be treated, and when you do the right thing, everything else will work out.
